Breaking Records is a karaoke forum brought to you by the creators of asian_karaoke@lj.
How do I participe?
Join the forum first, then you will be able to join projects. To join a project, comment on the relevant thread, informing the project's leader which part you want. After recording your part, upload it (using megaupload/mediafire/box.net or another server) and post it on the same thread or pm it to the project leader.
How do I record?
You can use a recording program. You can download the free software Audacity here. Download it and start recording away! Also remember to not record the original mp3/instrumental/whatelse together with your voice. Record your voice only. You can use headphones to avoid this. To export files in mp3, download the Plug-In called "L.A.M.E" ... it's not as LAME as it sounds XD
CHECK YOUR FILES BEFORE SUBMITTING TO THE MIXER!!!!
Check that your files don't have possible outmaxing (meaning too loud parts), awful off notes, background noises etc. We want you to give your best so that everyone can enjoy the result. Mixers CAN and have the right to ask you to re-record your parts. Mixers also have the right to find a cover for you if you fail to meet deadlines or hand in unusable files repeatedly.
What is a Calendarium for?
The calendarium is the thread where you can post information about all the projects you're currently in. You can post the deadline, which part you have etc. The list is just for you, to keep track you won't be late and to see if you won't need any extention to song deadlines. Also it's to make sure you're not taking more parts than you can handle.
What are PP's?
They are personal projects. As opposed to official projects, they are projects that can be held by everyone, not only admins or moderators. Also the official projects will contain more than one song while PP's are projects with only one song at the time. One person can hold ONLY ONE pp at the same time. Wait till you finish first one before opening another.
New project deadlines should be sent as PM to sagacchi!!
I missed the sign up to the song i wanted to sing so badly! What can I do?
You can always ask the project holder if there's possible to open another team so you'd be able to join.
Can I sing a solo/duet without informing admins/mods?
Of course. After you've recorded one, you can release it in the "Solos and Collabs" thread by yourself. You don't have to ask for permission to do so.
What is a colour coded song?
CC-ed songs are songs in which every person can choose or gets assigned parts with a different colour. We do such projects especially when the song is sang by a soloist, but it's not a rule. Because the lines get divided, more people can join a colour coded song then when they would be joining a regular song.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
